The Billie Jean King Cup between Russia and the United States will end this weekend with a Billie Jean King era showdown.
A quarterfinal match between the current world No. 1 Simona Halep of Romania and No. 11 Sloane Stephens of the United States will be played at 11 a.m. Sunday at Louis Armstrong Stadium on the third day of the Ivan Lendl Tennis Academy invitational.
Two other quarterfinals matches were announced Thursday:
Andy Murray vs. Alexandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine, noon, Saturday, Armstrong Stadium
Daniel Nestor vs. Kevin Anderson of South Africa, 2 p.m., Saturday, Armstrong Stadium
Stan Wawrinka vs. Karen Khachanov of Russia, 6 p.m., Saturday, Armstrong Stadium
All four quarterfinals matches will be broadcast on ESPN2 or can be streamed on WatchESPN. The Women’s Masters Cup will have live coverage from the U.S. Open site on Facebook on Thursday.
The Ivan Lendl Tennis Academy invitational run is an event started by NBC Sports Group executive producer Sam Flood, Lendl’s former partner, which honors King, who opened her first tennis academy and the Billie Jean King Cup last year at the Olympian Center in East Hampton, N.Y.
