One civilian and two policemen are killed as Indian troops battle with separatists in Kashmir. Hundreds of people have also been wounded. The violence comes as Indian Prime Minister Modi flies to Russia to talk up closer defense ties with President Putin.

In Pakistan, authorities there claim that they have broken up what they say was a major terrorist training camp. Five militants killed in attack at a city in the remote tribal area.
Meanwhile, in Kashmir, clashes continued as India continues its crackdown in the region. A local police spokesman says that two more policemen have been killed in clashes with protesters in occupied Kashmir, which is home to both Muslim and Hindu minorities. Officials said that five militants were killed in the gun battle.
Tensions are high in the region, as India accuses Pakistan of backing militants trying to break from Indian rule of Kashmir. On Wednesday, Pakistan acknowledged for the first time that it pays militants the money to cross the border to attack Indian forces.
