(CNN) — A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed during a clash between two rival groups on the street in downtown Toronto Tuesday night, police said.
Officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a fight around 8:45 p.m. local time. They found a man suffering from a stab wound to the upper body.
The man, who is in his 40s, was rushed to hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries. His condition is currently unknown.
Three other men were also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made as police remain on the scene looking for witnesses, who may have seen what happened, Toronto Police Sgt. Barry Yekic told CNN.
“This is an unprovoked stabbing,” Yekic said, adding that there were no clear signs that the fight was gang-related.
At this stage of the investigation, police do not believe that there is any risk to the public, Yekic said.
CNN has reached out to the Toronto Police for further comment.
