Parents of Teen Accused of Farmington Hills Middle School Shooting in Court

Two parents who authorities believe are responsible for the fatal shooting of a student at a suburban Detroit middle school are expected to be in court in the next few days.

Michael Candi, who identifies himself as the father of 15-year-old suspect Matt Milby, and his wife, Lisa, were in court this morning, according to MyFoxDetroit.com. The couple are due in court on Friday, after surveillance footage was shown in court.

Milby is accused of shooting and killing an eighth grader, Brian Moser, at a January school in the city of Farmington Hills. The victim and his father have been outspoken against Milby since the shooting, saying he shouldn’t be in the 8th grade after the incident.

In March, Milby’s parents voluntarily surrendered him to authorities, the Detroit Free Press reported. They said they were trying to reach out to authorities.

Their attorney maintains that Milby was troubled and should be sent to a treatment center, citing his violent past, according to the paper.
